SATURDAY...surf will continue on an upward trend for saturday. models are showing open ocean swell heights of near 3ft which will translate into surf in the head high range at many spots on soutern shores. however, a recent look at buoy observations warrents a second guess as there looks to be little indication of long period swell. given the facts the call is for weak surf in the head high range with marginal conditions due to gusty trades. windswell along southeastern shores may combine with souterly swell for the odd overhead set.

FRIDAY...a new southerly swell is due to fill in along southern shores for friday. the episode looks to be fairly long-lived as models are showing a upward trend into saturday where surf will peak out near the 4ft catagory, just shy of advisary levels. buoys will nedd to be monitored in order to fine tune surf heights at select locations. windward shores are going to see surf out of the east in the head high range at select spots. winds will continue to be trades for at least the next week

waves abound
TUESDAY...surf should be plentiful and abound for tuesday. the north shore will peak overnight and be on the way down. buoy observations are dropping rapidly in both waveheight and power. best guess is that the peak has already occured, however surf in the 2-4ft range should be around for the dawn patrol with dropping conditions throughout the day. southern shores are showing promise as buoy readings from the southern buoys have remained strong. the equatorial buoy has really started going off and has been on the increase all day. winds will be good for the AM.

SATURDAY...small surf along northern shores for saturday june 10th. a small northwest swell has arrived on friday out of 345-350deg. the swell produced waves in the 1-3ft range although i have no reports to confirm this by. latest buoy observations are indicating that the swell will peak tonight and be on the way out tomorrow. buoy readings are weaker tonight than they were today at both buoy 1 and the waimea buoy. the call is for weak 1-3ft surf along northern shores and 1-3ft surf along souther shores. winds will be trades 10-20mph.

watch out for the hoax
FRIDAY...a new short period northwest swell is due by mid-afternoon tomorrow. looking at the latest models there is some doubt to as if this swell will actually materialize. running the hindcast charts this evening, there was only a small batch of winds north-nortwest of the islands approximately 600nm out in the 340deg band relative to oahu. most of the winds were less than 30mph with winds blowing during the day on thursday. models therefore are indicating a typical summertime hoax, basically there may be a small bump on northern shores that will amount to the waves being just above the flat catagory. wavewatch 3 models are clinging to an open ocean swell height of 1.4m, which translates to roughly 3ft when waves arrive to oahu. the call is for a small bump in the mid-afternoon with most surf spots weak and inconsistent. head high waves may be found at select reefs that can make something out of nothing. southern shores will 1-3ft with weaker conditions than thursday. winds will be light, but starting to return to trades

small stuff
WEDNESDAY...small surf will prevail as there is little in the way of swell in the viciniy of hawaii. recent buoy observations are showing minimal energy out both the north and the south and with the low pressure eroding our usual summer northpacific high there is also little in the way of tradewinds and swell associated with them. all in all not much to report in the world of surfing for wednesday.
on the bright side though, there looks to be some waves brewing for both the north and the south shores toward the weekend and early next week. northern shores may see surf in the solid 6-8ft range roughly 5-7days out. southern shores may also see a powerful near the same time.

LL'S
surfed with my bud surfer9joe at a ultra double secret probation spot on the wside. looked like garbage at first and only did the heat drive me into the water. had it to myself for at least an hour and a half. caught many waves and honestly was ready to go in due to not surfing much in the last month. joe showed up and i ended up staying out another two hours. had to pass on a couple due to exhaustion in the arms and felt like a pussy, but i was just rubbered. lesson learned when you go out in surf over four feet maintain shape. waves were 3-5ft with fun peeling waves and super late drops...had a few wipouts just to make sure.

more south
SATURDAY...surf should still be around for saturday out of the south. recent buoy observations indicate that power readings are remaining similar to what they were last night and today. with the eight hour travel time from our south buoys, there is a good chance some 4ft surf will greet dawn patrollers in the AM. the old timers will tell you that their rule of thumb was "the longer it took a south swell to fill in the longer it generally stayed around after the peak of the episode".. observations from yours truly this afternoon noted that there were definitely more than once source for this swell. i may even go so bold as to say i thought it looked slightly more consistent this evening. the call is for solid 2-4ft surf along southern shore complete with light winds.
